Inability to urinate or appears constipatedBut continues to try
Inability to deliver puppies or kittensKeeps trying or has stopped trying
PainSevere, continuous with no relief
Vomiting or diarrheaContinuous or with the appearance of blood
Loss of balance or consciousnessIncludes tremors, coma, staggering, blindness or fainting
ItchingContinuous scratching, biting, self-mutilation
Penetrating WoundsAny place, but especially chest or abdomen
PoisoningBring the container or commercial name and chemical name of toxin
InjuryContinuous pain and/or total lameness
Hit by carCome NOW!
BloatCome NOW!
Any other sign that looks serious. 
 

If your pet has any of these symptoms bring him in TODAY

 
Difficulty breathingWith or without cough. Eats and drinks and is not frantic
Vomiting/DiarrheaWithout blood or pain and no unusual contents
Sudden lamenessWith no apparent cause
Swallowed objectEven if you just think your pet may have swallowed it
Severe itchingWith possible self-mutilation
Strange odorUsually disagreeable, from any part of the body
BurnsHeat, or chemical. If extensive come immediately
Injuries or lacerationsNot severe emergency but will worsen with delay
 

If your pet has any of these symptoms, it is safe to wait OVERNIGHT

Vomiting/DiarrheaNo blood, no foreign material, no pain, not continuous
ItchingMild to moderate, no skin damage, not continuous, no bleeding
LamenessLittle or no pain, no discomfort when walking, not continuous
Thirst/UrinationExcessive drinking and/or elimination of urine with no blood, no pain, no straining or discomfort, or bloody appearance of the urine
Loss of appetiteSkipped one main meal, but no other sign of illness
Most skin problems
