Vaccines

The following vaccines are recommended to ensure the best possible care for your pet.

Canine Vaccine Schedule

  • Distemper/adenovirus/parainfluenza/parvovirus should be given at 6, 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. This vaccine will then be boosted annually.
  • Leptospirosis should be given either at 8 and 12 weeks or at 12 and 16 weeks. This vaccine will then be boosted annually.
  • Lyme vaccine should also be given at either 8 and 12 weeks or at 12 and 16 weeks. This will then be boosted annually.
  • Rabies should be given at 12 or 16 weeks. The initial vaccine is good for one year, then it will be boosted every 3 years.
  • Dental vaccine should be given either at 8 and 12 weeks or at 12 and 16 weeks.
  • Parvovirus KF-11 high titer booster should be given at 20 weeks.

Heartworm prevention should be started before 4 months of age. If started after 4 months, dogs will need to have a heartworm test before medication can be started.

Feline Vaccine Schedule

  • FVRCP (feline rhinotracheitis/calicivirus/panleukopenia/chlamydia psittaci) should be given at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks. This vaccine will then be boosted annually.
  • Rabies should be given at 12 weeks. The initial vaccine is good for one year, then it will be boosted every 3 years.
  • Feline Leukemia (FELV) should be tested prior to vaccinating. This vaccine is recommended for all cats that go outdoors. It is a two shot series given 3-4 weeks apart and at 9 weeks of age or older. It will then be boosted annually.
  • Feline Aids (FIV) should be tested prior to vaccinating. This vaccine is recommended for all cats that go outdoors. It is a 3 shot series given at 2-4 week intervals and at 9 weeks of age or older. It will then be boosted annually.
  • Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is recommended for cats that are exposed to FIP positive cats or which will have exposure to large populations of cats. This is given at 16 weeks or older, and consists of 2 vaccinations 3 weeks apart. It will then be boosted annually.
