The Wellness Exam

Our veterinarians give your pet a comprehensive physical at every wellness visit, examining the patient from head to tail. This is an excellent time to discuss any questions you may have, concerns about your pet, or changes that have occurred since the last visit.

At the beginning of the exam, your pet’s weight is recorded. Our veterinarian evaluates the patient’s coat, skin, nose, and throat, and listens to the lungs and heart rate. Lymph nodes, eyes, ears, mouth, gums, and teeth are also examined. We assess your pet’s urogenital tract and nervous system, feel the abdomen for any abnormalities, and score your animal’s body condition.

Special Needs

Preventative care and diagnostic testing will vary, depending upon the type of pet you have and the animal’s stage of life.

Pet dental care is an essential piece of the wellness package, making a great impact on the overall health and longevity of many companion animals. Nutritional counseling is offered at every wellness visit, especially for those pets that face a health or weight challenge.

Behavior issues can be a serious problem for some pet owners. At the wellness visit, discuss any behavioral concerns with the veterinarian. We may simply counsel you, offer training resources, or we may recommend a trainer or behaviorist based upon your specific needs.

We fully believe that the regular wellness visit with a complete exam is a great way to stop problems before they start!
